DIY - Polymer Clay Earrings 3 ways

Jessica Romero1 Comment

What's not to love about a pop of colour hanging of your ears and today I will show you 3 ways of creating some great DIY earrings using Polymer Clay.

Things you will need:

Polymer clay, board to work on, rolling pin, sharp knife, scissors, baking paper, paper and pencil, skewer, super glue or craft glue, and some jewellery findings, such as jump rings, earring hooks and studs.
Ok, lets start with a very easy one.

Pop of Colour Studs

Step 1: Get your polymer clay and roll little balls

Step 2: Squeeze and shape your clay balls - I did some round, square and triangles - do any shape you wish - If you don't want fingerprint marks wear surgical gloves.

Step 3: I have used a skewer to mark the clay so the glue and stud have more grip to stick to.

Step 4: Bake your beads in the oven - follow the directions on the pack of your clay.

Step 5: Once cooled apply glue and simply add the stud, wait to dry and wear away.

Hanging Beads Earrings

Step 1: Get your polymer clay and roll little balls. Tip - Roll a long sausage and slice into equal parts. An easy to get the same size balls.

Step 2: Squeeze and shape your clay balls. For the fat beads a simple just squash the balls a little and for the thin beads I have used a piece of baking paper to really squash the ball flat.

Step 3 : Used a skewer to punch a hole in the bead. I like to twist the skewer while pouching throughout the clay, it make a cleaner hole and always make sure your hole is big enough for your fixing or chain.

Step 4: Bake your beads in the oven - follow the directions on the pack of your clay.

Step 5: Putting together your earring - Cut chain to length - Add a jump ring finding to one end of the chain - Add your beads to the other end - Add another jump ring finding and the earring hook - Make 2 of the same and wear away.

Super Fun Earrings

Step 1: Get your polymer clay and roll flat with the rolling pin.

Step 2: In a different colour clay, roll a thin sausage shape, then with your knife thinly slice off small bits of clay and place onto your large flat piece of clay. Once done place baking paper over the top and roll with the rolling pin again. Now repeat the process with another colour.

Step 3: Cut out a shape template for your earring and place onto the clay and cut around your shape. Cut 2. Here, I have smoothed out the cut edges by placing baking paper over the clay shape and rubbing around the edge. I wanted a small hole in these beads so a used a sewing needle.

Step 4: Bake your beads in the oven - follow the directions on the pack of your clay.

Step 5: Putting together your earring - Add a jump ring finding to the bead and then the earring hook - Make 2 and wear away.
