Hi! I am Lenneke, jewelry designer for my own label Lennebelle Jewelry and Lennebelle Petites (mother – kids jewelry) I live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in a three floor appartment in an old neighbourhood with my two girls Mette Elba (2 years) and Lore Lilot (6 weeks) and my mr Perfect Joey.
We got the key to our new place when I was two months pregnant with Mette and there was so much to do! Mette her nursery was originally dark green with thick carpet. (Imagine what it looked like!) But I fell in love with the light and the stained glass window parts.
I wanted the whole house bright and white with the original wooden floors. It was some hard work but we are really happy with the result.
For Mette her nursery we got our inspiration from our last trip before we found out we were pregnant. We did a roadtrip in Argentina. It was the Parque Nacional los Cardones (national parc of cacti) in the Andes that made me decide to have the curtains with all the cacti. They are hand dyed and stamped by friend and designer Iefke de Roos. The striped rug I bought in a small village in the Andes and the small cactus teddy was the first thing I got for our future baby because we decided that trip we wanted to make a family!
I love going around markets for vintage treasures like the chair (perfect for breastfeeding and reading books), the little deer lampshade and the mint green shelf. The bedside coconut lamps we had them made in Ko Phangan, Thailand but never had a good purpose. Now they have and they give such cosy light in the evening.
Mette her bed was the biggest search. I wanted an old French crib but Joey wanted a ‘safer’ more modern one so we chose this one by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.
The big wall covering closet was already there but we still needed a spot to change her diapers and get dressed so we asked a friend who happens to be a carpenter to make the dresser. It is really convenient and when Mette is getting older we can lower it to make it her desk.
I had so much fun decorating Mette her nursery and now we have just finished the nursery for our youngest daughter Lore. But some day we would love to have the whole attic for the girls and have them share a big room together. I am already looking forward to making this another fun and cosy girls place!
